West Seattle Pump Station

This projects rebuilds and modernizes the existing Seattle Public Utilities Pump Station serving West Seattle. Using the existing foundation of the building, a new enclosure will be designed around the pump room and pipe gallery, including a new crane for the facility. The existing building’s footprint will be expanded to accommodate new electrical equipment. The design team intends to maintain a brick building aesthetic to make reference to the historic structure that will be removed, while incorporating a durable, complementary metal cladding to express the new addition. A butterfly roof will connect the two structures, contributing a playful expression to the neighborhood fabric.
