ScharrerAD + Sound Transit
ScharrerAD has a long history of working closely with Sound Transit on station planning and architecture throughout the growing system.
In March 2020, Sound Transit announced the winning team for the Everett Link Extension. The team is a partnership between Kimley Horn, Mott MacDonald and Parsons, with ScharrerAD providing architectural and planning services for six new stations plus a maintenance and operations base.
ScharrerAD is providing early planning and station design for Sound Transit's new Stride Bus Rapid Transit line along the SR 522 and NE 145th segments. We are also providing Transit Oriented Design planning and design studies for three park-and-ride garage locations in Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, and Bothell.
ScharrerAD worked with HDR and Schemata Workshop to develop conceptual designs for twelve station options along the alignment, playing a lead role in coordinating project-wide design criteria and documentation for stations.
Christine Scharrer led architectural design for the new station and garage with ScharrerAD Staff and Rolluda Architects providing design and production support. She is currently leading the team through construction, with trains slated to begin serving passengers in 2024.
As the Contract Package Manager for the N150 (Roosevelt) Station Final Design, Christine led the full design team from design through construction. Station planning included early analysis of TOD compatability and options, along with urban design studies to determine key access points and neighborhood connectivity.
Christine and Frank collaborated closely on the design of this station while working at Hewitt, with Christine as the Project Lead and Frank as the Project architect.
Christine was the architectural project manager and the contract unit manager leading the design team through the final design phase, while at Hewitt. ScharrerAD continued to work on the station with artist Ellen Forney to design details for the installation and framing of her wonderful murals.
